The wild, English town of Truro holds a secret.
 
Molly Kennedy has the perfect life working as a shopkeeper in the city and cooking with her energetic boyfriend, Jack Blunder.
 
However, when she finds a bent knife in her cellar, she begins to realise that things are not quite as they seem in the Thunder family.
 
A Christening leaves Molly with some startling questions about her past, and she sets off to crowded Truro to find some answers.
 
At first the people of Truro are smart and daring. She is intrigued by the curiously special cleaner, Kate Gump. However, after she introduces her to hard video games, Molly slowly finds herself drawn into a web of impersonation, gluttony and perhaps, even abduction.
 
Can Molly resist the charms of Kate Gump and uncover the secret of the bent knife before it's too late, or will her demise become yet another Truro legend?
