The Curse of the Peculiar Hat

The Curse of the Peculiar Hat
A Horror Story
by Doc Miller

Whilst investigating the death of a local detective, a bold author named Kelly Delaney uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, peculiar hat circulating throughout Beacon Falls. As soon as anyone uses the hat, he or she has exactly 365 days left to live.

"Where's Jack?" asks Kelly.
Jack Delaney wasn't born but created in a lab.
But now Jack is going to expose the head of the criminal organization they've been fighting.  The whole thing is not a hat, but a brainwashing tool used by the government.

The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look distorted. A marked person feels like a curvy kitten to the touch.

Kelly gets hold of the hat, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into her mind: a rural fox balancing on a grey picket fence, an old newspaper headline about a flying accident, a hooded rabbit ranting about fingers and a drinking well located in a hidden, overgrown bog.

When Kelly notices her ankles have kitten-like properties, she realizes that the curse of the peculiar hat is true and calls in her husband, an exterminator named John Delaney, to help.

Kelly shows John the interesting hat that she found.

John examines the hat and willingly submits himself to the curse. He finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. He finds the rural fox balancing on a grey picket fence particularly chilling. He joins the queue for a supernatural death.

John has a scar and forgot how it got there.
John has blood on his shoe. How did it get there?

Kelly and John pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of their frightening visions, starting with a search for the hooded rabbit. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?

Where's Jack?  Anyway?
