Dear Mindmyst Tales readers, welcome to my blog!

As the leaves have fallen and the air turns crisp, let’s take a moment to appreciate the little joys in life—like watching a cat knock things off a table just for fun. And speaking of fun, did you hear about the goat who became a comedian? It always had the best “baa-d jokes” up its sleeve!

In the spirit of this delightful month, let’s add a sprinkle of luck to our lives with a lotto pick: 4, 11, 18, 25, 32, and 44. Who knows, you might just win enough to treat yourself to a cat-themed getaway or a goat farm visit!
Here’s to a Thanksgiving filled with laughter and good fortune!

The Reader

In the early morning, the sun peeked through the curtains, casting a gentle light across the living room. Tricia brewed a pot of coffee, the rich scent awakening her senses as she prepared for a cozy reading session. She settled into a plush armchair with her laptop, navigating to the Mindmyst Tales Blog, a notepad and pencil at her side. A plate of freshly baked scones sat on the table, their buttery goodness tempting her to take a bite. With each sip of coffee and glance at the blog, she felt her creativity begin to flow.

The Patio Project

In a high-tech backyard, a homeowner wants to build a rectangular patio that measures 12 feet by 15 feet. If they want to cover the patio with smart tiles that cost $5 per square foot, how much will it cost to cover the entire patio?

Gullible’s Travels
by Joe Miller

Once upon a time, in the sunny state of Florida, a hapless American named Dave decided to take a vacation he’d been dreaming of: a scenic boat tour of the Everglades. Armed with a Hawaiian shirt, a fanny pack filled with snacks, and a complete lack of coordination, Dave boarded the tour boat with great enthusiasm.

As the boat glided through the mangroves, Dave leaned over the side to snap a picture of a particularly photogenic alligator. Unfortunately, his fanny pack got caught on the railing, and with a dramatic splash, he tumbled overboard. The last thing he heard was the laughter of the tour guide as he flailed in the water.

After what felt like an eternity of flopping around like a fish out of water, Dave finally washed up on the shore of a mysterious island. As he pulled himself up, he noticed the landscape was unlike anything he’d seen before. The trees were odd shapes, the grass shimmered with an otherworldly glow, and the air smelled faintly of nachos.

“Hello?” he called out, hoping for a friendly face. Instead, he was met with a chorus of hissing laughter. Emerging from the foliage were a group of lizard-like beings, standing upright and wearing robes adorned with runes that looked suspiciously like they belonged to a heavy metal band.

“Welcome, earthling!” one of the lizard people hissed, its forked tongue flicking in and out. “We are the Saurians, and you are in our sacred territory!”

“Uh, sacred territory?” Dave stammered, glancing around nervously. “I just fell off a boat!”

“Falling off boats is a sign of weakness in our culture,” another lizard person said, crossing its arms. “But worry not! We have plans for you!”

Before Dave could protest, he was whisked away to a large stone temple that looked like it had been designed by a committee of confused architects. Inside, the walls were adorned with bizarre murals depicting epic battles between lizard warriors and… were those squirrels?

“Tonight, we shall hold the Rite of the Reptilian!” the leader proclaimed dramatically. “You, Dave, shall be our honored guest!”

Dave gulped. “Honored guest? Does that mean I get to go home after this?”

The lizard leader chuckled sinisterly. “Oh, no. You will be the main attraction!”

As night fell, Dave found himself dressed in a makeshift costume that looked like a cross between a disco ball and a salad. The Saurians had taken a liking to his Hawaiian shirt, which they deemed “sacred fashion.” The islanders gathered around a massive bonfire, chanting and dancing in a way that made Dave question his life choices.

Just as he was beginning to accept his fate as the lizard people’s entertainment, a loud crash interrupted the ceremony. From the shadows emerged a group of rogue lizard people, led by a particularly rebellious lizard named Zog. “We shall not sacrifice this earthling!” Zog shouted, brandishing a spatula. “We shall bring him to the intergalactic food festival instead!”

The crowd gasped. “A food festival?” Dave exclaimed, his eyes lighting up. “Do they serve nachos?”

“Only the finest nachos!” Zog declared. “Join us, and you shall feast!”

Before the Saurians could react, Zog grabbed Dave and led him away from the temple. As they sprinted through the jungle, Dave couldn’t help but laugh. “This is the weirdest vacation ever!”

After dodging lizard guards and narrowly escaping a pit filled with gelatinous goo, they finally reached the intergalactic food festival. It was a colorful spectacle of food stalls run by aliens from various planets. Dave’s mouth watered as he spotted a nacho stand that looked like it had been designed by a culinary genius.

“Welcome to the festival!” Zog said, handing Dave a plate piled high with nachos topped with glowing cheese. “Eat, my friend! You are free here!”

As Dave devoured the nachos, he realized he’d found the adventure of a lifetime. He mingled with extraterrestrial beings, tried bizarre foods, and even participated in a dance-off that left him breathless. It turned out that lizard people loved to dance just as much as they loved nachos.

After a day filled with laughter, food, and new friends, Dave was finally rescued by a passing boat. As he waved goodbye to Zog and the Saurians, he couldn’t help but smile. He may have fallen off a tour boat and ended up on an island run by Satan-worshiping extraterrestrial lizard people, but he’d gained stories that would last a lifetime.

Back home, Dave shared his wild adventure with friends, who laughed and rolled their eyes, convinced he was making it all up. But deep down, he knew the truth: sometimes, the best adventures happen when you least expect them… even if they involve lizard people and nachos.
