The Miller Report 03202025

Hello and welcome to the blog!

With the arrival of warmer weather, Southington is buzzing with activity—unless you count my cats, who are just buzzing with disdain for the great outdoors.

The neighbor’s goats have taken to sunbathing on my lawn, clearly thinking it’s their new goat spa. I’m half tempted to charge them for the service!

Join me as I navigate this delightful chaos of nature, goats, and lazy cats!

Across my Desk!!

So next week is National Stay at Home with Your Cat and Eat Snacks Week! It's nothing official, really. We just made it up. Go tell the others!

I just fired myself from cleaning my house. I don’t like my attitude & I got caught drinking on the job.

It was common sense that in order to get egg prices down we had to stop killing the chickens!

I used to have a cute, innocent infant. Now I have a toddlersaurus rex

Stock market settling 🤷‍♀️egg prices inching down🤷‍♀️gas prices inching down🤷‍♀️Suez canal could be safe again which will decrease shipping cost.

The Reader
In her study, surrounded by bookshelves brimming with novels, Sarah settled into her plush armchair with a warm cup of chai latte. The aroma of spices filled the room, creating a cozy atmosphere. She opened her laptop to Mindmyst Tales Blog, excited to dive into the latest posts. With a notebook and pencil ready, she began to jot down reflections and ideas inspired by the stories. The soft glow of the reading lamp illuminated her space, making it feel like a sanctuary. Each tale wrapped around her like a warm blanket, sparking her creativity and transporting her to new worlds. Sarah felt grateful for this quiet time to indulge in her love for storytelling.

Game of the Week --- your chance to win a prize ... grab your pencil and a bit of paper, and a snack.
Fruit Kabobs: Skewers of grapes, strawberries, and melon for a refreshing snack.

Planting Flowers: In March, Lisa planted 12 flower bulbs in her garden. If she plans to plant 4 more bulbs each week for the next 3 weeks, how many flower bulbs will she have planted by the end of March?

 • Now, This Week's Exciting Story

The Outing

As Frank laid out the picnic blanket, his friends arrived, their eyes widening at the sight of the jar of pickles and the rubber chicken. “Uh, Frank, are we having a picnic or auditioning for a comedy show?” Sarah laughed, holding up the rubber chicken with a quizzical expression.

“Well, it’s a gourmet picnic!” Frank declared, trying to salvage his dignity. “You’ve got your protein in the rubber chicken and your vitamins in the pickles!”

His friends exchanged amused glances but decided to roll with it. “Alright, let’s see what kind of culinary masterpiece you’ve created!” Mike said, popping open the jar of pickles.

As they took turns trying to make the best of the unusual spread, Frank couldn’t help but chuckle at the absurdity of it all. “Next time, I promise to bring actual food!” he said, laughing along with his friends as they pretended to toast with the rubber chicken.

In the end, they spent the afternoon laughing, making silly games with the chicken, and enjoying the unexpected picnic more than any traditional outing. Frank may not have been the best picnic planner, but he sure knew how to throw a memorable day!

-

As the laughter echoed through the park, a sudden rustling noise from the nearby bushes caught Frank's attention. “Did anyone else hear that?” he asked, his smile fading slightly as he glanced over his shoulder.

“Probably just a squirrel,” Sarah replied, but her voice lacked conviction. Just as she spoke, a low growl emanated from the underbrush, sending a shiver down Frank’s spine.

Before anyone could react, a sleek, hungry-looking dog burst through the bushes, its eyes locked onto the rubber chicken. It lunged forward, barking ferociously, clearly mistaking the chicken for a real prey.

“Holy cow!” Mike shouted, instinctively stepping back. “Is that a stray?!”

Frank, clutching the rubber chicken like it was a lifeline, held it up defensively. “Hey, buddy! It’s not real! It’s just a toy!” he yelled, trying to reason with the dog as it continued to bark and circle them, clearly agitated.

“Maybe it wants the pickles!” Sarah suggested, her eyes wide as she backed away slowly, unsure of what to do.

“Let’s not test that theory!” Frank replied, glancing around for something to use as a distraction. “We need to get out of here!”

In a moment of desperation, he threw the rubber chicken across the picnic area. The dog, intrigued by the sudden movement, darted after it, giving the friends a brief window to escape.

“Run!” Frank shouted, and they all bolted in the opposite direction, laughter turning to panic as they raced away from the barking dog.

They zigzagged through the park, dodging trees and picnic tables, until they reached a small hill that overlooked the area. They paused to catch their breath, peering back to see the dog still occupied with the rubber chicken, now rolling it around like a prized possession.

“Okay, that was a close one,” Mike said, panting. “I thought we were done for!”

“Next time, I’m bringing real food and a guard dog,” Frank joked, though his heart was still racing from the encounter.

“Let’s just stick to picnics without rubber chickens—and maybe avoid the bushes next time,” Sarah added, still a bit shaken but now laughing at the absurdity of their day.

As they sat on the hill, watching the dog finally lose interest in the rubber chicken, they couldn’t help but appreciate the unexpected adventure. Frank may have started the day with a questionable picnic, but they had all learned something valuable: sometimes, the most memorable moments come from the most unexpected—and dangerous—encounters.
