The Miller Report 10222026
Miller's Mysteries Blog
• Greetings and welcome to Miller's Mysteries Blog, where autumn has arrived with cool air, colorful leaves, and an impressive appetite for pumpkin decorations. The weather is becoming seasonable, which means it is finally time to enjoy Southington without wondering whether we are being roasted or frozen. We are looking forward to Calendar House shows, AMC movies, restaurant meals, shopping trips, and decorating the place for the season. The backyard wildlife may make occasional appearances, usually without making reservations.

The neighbor's goats keep looking in, while the cats keep looking out, creating what may be the world's least organized neighborhood watch. Pour yourself a cup of coffee and let's see what mysteries Autumn has waiting for us.

• The Reader
Jack was sitting at a corner table in a quiet diner around 10:00 on a Saturday morning, getting acquainted with Mindmyst Tales Blog. He had a sheet of paper in front of him, a mechanical pencil in his hand, and a steaming cup of black coffee beside his plate. A blueberry muffin provided convenient fuel for serious investigative reading. Jack made notes about the stories as though he were building a case file. Every few minutes he took another sip of coffee and added another line to the paper. Before long, he was completely absorbed in the blog. He finished the muffin and decided that Mindmyst Tales Blog had possibilities.

• Joe & Chantal Investigate πΈπ️
Joe looked over his notebook and smiled. "Welcome, everyone, to another edition of Joe & Chantal Investigate, where strange stories deserve a closer look! I'm Joe, and I've got my notebook ready. Today, we're examining another eyewitness account that raises some interesting questions."
Chantal adjusted her microphone and picked up her coffee mug. "And I'm Chantal! I've got my notes, my microphone, and a fresh cup of hot black coffee. There's something fascinating about eyewitness testimony. Someone sees something unusual, tries to make sense of it, and suddenly we have a mystery on our hands!"
"That's right," Joe replied. "Today's eyewitness says they saw something they simply couldn't identify. Now, I like to approach these reports with an open mind, but I'm also a math guy. I want details, timelines, distances, descriptions, and anything else we can verify."
"And that's where I come in," Chantal said. "I'll ask the questions, examine the testimony, and look for details that might have been overlooked. Was it a conventional aircraft? Something atmospheric? Or perhaps something we haven't identified? We're not jumping to conclusions. We're investigating!"
"Well said, Chantal!" Joe exclaimed. "So, fire up the notebook, check the evidence, and let's get started. Our listeners are invited to examine the testimony right along with us."
Chantal leaned toward the microphone and smiled. "You got it, Joe! Welcome to Joe & Chantal Investigate, where curiosity is encouraged, questions are welcome, and the truth is always worth pursuing. Now, let's find out what our eyewitness saw!" π️πΈ
Betsy (ew2)πΈ
Not that anyone would believe me. But an orb virtually identical to the one depicted in the notes hovered directly over me in La Puente California several months back around 7pm while I was out walking my dogs about two blocks from my house. It 'danced' straight above me, as if trying to get my attention and I only saw it because of the light from it just barely falling into my upper peripheral vision. I looked straight up at it, and yes, the core of it looked like plasma. I would describe it like the liquid from a lava lamp. It was only one orange blob of mass within the orb and it spun counter-clockwise almost like a ying-yang formation. Not ironically, I had my phone already in hand and immediately reached to film it, but when I looked through the phone screen to capture, it had simply vanished and looking back it was completely gone. The orb was LOW, about as high as the officer describes here. I would say it was as high up as a very tall tree. Very clear and very vivid. It was like there were two suns, but the actual sun was far off in the distance setting.
The real question for me was, did anyone else actually witness it too, or was it only meant for me since it seemed to be trying to get my attention❓
And then this past Tuesday, I witness another one while driving several miles from home late at night with nobody out on the streets. But this time, this one exploded into a sort of stick figure display of light -- like an angel on fire. Then in suddenly vanished as well. About 15 minutes later, just as I park my car in my driveway, a low flying helicopter flies over me and toward the direction of the sighting. I shared my testimony with neighbors.
-----
In the UFO news:
πΈ Connecticut Eyewitness Report: Thompson
Date of sighting: October 1, 2026
Location: Thompson, Connecticut
Witnesses: Two
Duration: Approximately 20 seconds.
A motorist traveling south on Route 395 reported seeing three white lights traveling together.
The witness described:
- Three lights arranged in a row.
- The center light appeared considerably larger.
- The formation appeared to bank sharply toward the west.
- The object disappeared behind the tree line.
The passenger, the driver's wife, also witnessed the event.
The National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) classified the possible explanation as aircraft, but the sighting remains unidentified in its report.
Chantal's closing thought: Keep looking up, Joe. You never know when Connecticut's next mystery will appear!
“That was certainly an interesting report,” Chantal said.
“It sure was,” Joe said, “and I think our mysterious-but-interesting folder just got a little thicker.”
“Remember, an unexplained sighting doesn't automatically mean an extraterrestrial spacecraft,” Chantal said.
“But it does give us something worth investigating,” Joe replied.
“Exactly,” Chantal said. “Keep your eyes on the sky, and we'll see you on the next Joe & Chantal Investigate.” πΈπ️

• Now, This Week's Exciting Story
Oasis of the Seas: A Northern Adventure
Featuring Kelly and John
Kelly and John had been looking forward to their Caribbean cruise aboard Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas. They had visions of sunny beaches, turquoise water, tropical drinks, and warm Bahamian breezes. But Mother Nature apparently had other plans. A change in itinerary sent the mighty ship north toward Halifax, Nova Scotia. Kelly looked at John and announced, Well, I guess we're trading palm trees for maple trees!
As the Oasis made its way up the Atlantic coast, the temperature dropped and the ocean developed a personality of its own. John stood on the balcony wearing a sweatshirt, watching the waves roll past. Kelly appeared behind him carrying two cups of coffee. She handed him one and said, Welcome to our tropical vacation, where the beach towels come with thermal underwear!
The following morning, something unusual appeared alongside the ship. A crew member announced that whales had been spotted. Kelly grabbed her camera and hurried toward the railing. Suddenly, a magnificent humpback whale emerged from the water, its enormous body rising before crashing back into the ocean. John stood there speechless. Kelly snapped twenty-seven photographs and declared that she had just found her new favorite vacation activity.
A second whale appeared, followed by another. Their enormous tails rose into the air before disappearing beneath the waves. John leaned over the railing and whispered, I think they're following us. Kelly replied, Well, if they want to come aboard, they'll need reservations. We're fully booked!
Later that afternoon, the ship approached Halifax. The harbor was beautiful, with historic buildings, colorful waterfront shops, and fishing boats scattered across the water. Kelly and John went ashore to explore. They sampled some delicious seafood, browsed the local shops, and discovered that Halifax had plenty of charm. John ordered lobster while Kelly announced that she was officially becoming a Canadian food critic.
That evening, they returned to the ship, exhausted but happy. The entertainment staff had announced a special stargazing event on the upper deck. Kelly wasn't particularly interested until someone mentioned the possibility of seeing the northern lights. She looked at John. He looked at Kelly. Suddenly, neither one was tired anymore.
Just after midnight, the sky began to change. A faint green glow appeared above the northern horizon. Slowly, ribbons of green and purple light stretched across the darkness, twisting and dancing like enormous celestial curtains. Kelly gasped. John reached for her hand. The northern lights had arrived, putting on a performance that neither of them would ever forget.
Then came an unexpected visitor. A strange shadow moved beneath the surface of the ocean. John pointed toward the water and shouted, Look! Kelly raised her camera just as an enormous tentacle emerged from the sea. It slapped against the side of the ship before disappearing. Kelly stared at John. John stared at Kelly. Finally, he said, I think that whale brought a friend!
The next morning, Kelly and John sat together over breakfast, reviewing their photographs. They had seen humpback whales, explored Halifax, witnessed the northern lights, and possibly encountered a giant squid. Kelly smiled and said, You know, John, maybe the Bahamas wouldn't have been half as exciting. John raised his coffee cup. To the Oasis of the Seas! Kelly clinked her cup against his. And to our next adventure! Somewhere beneath the ship, something enormous splashed. ππ¦π’
--
The Oasis of the Seas was heading south after its memorable visit to Halifax. Kelly and John had barely recovered from their encounter with the giant squid when the cruise director made an announcement. Tonight was near Halloween, and the ship was preparing a spectacular costume party. Kelly immediately decided she would dress as a mysterious sea witch. John wasn't quite so enthusiastic. He had been assigned the role of a pirate, complete with an eye patch, a plastic sword, and a ridiculous black hat.
At 8:00 PM, the Halloween festivities began. The promenade was decorated with skeletons, cobwebs, pumpkins, and flickering lanterns. Passengers wandered around in costumes ranging from vampires to zombies. Kelly looked absolutely terrifying in her sea witch outfit. John looked like a pirate who had lost a fight with a Halloween store. Kelly took one look at him and announced, I've seen scarier things in the gift shop!
After midnight, Kelly and John decided to get some fresh air on the upper deck. Most passengers had gone to bed, and the ship was unusually quiet. A thick fog had settled over the Atlantic. Suddenly, John noticed a strange green light hovering just above the water. It moved slowly alongside the ship. Kelly grabbed his arm. John, please tell me that's another cruise ship!
A low, mournful horn echoed across the water. Out of the fog appeared an enormous sailing vessel. Its sails were torn, its wooden hull was covered in seaweed, and strange blue lights flickered along its deck. A ghostly figure stood at the bow. He raised an ancient lantern and pointed directly at the Oasis. Kelly whispered, I don't think that's included in our cruise package.
Suddenly, a crew member appeared behind them. He stared at the mysterious vessel and turned pale. That's impossible, he whispered. That's the Phantom of Halifax. Legend says his ship disappeared more than a hundred years ago. Every Halloween, he searches the Atlantic for a ship carrying stolen treasure. John looked at Kelly. Did you happen to buy anything expensive in Halifax?
Before Kelly could answer, a tremendous splash erupted beside the Oasis. Something enormous rose from the water. It was the giant squid! Its enormous tentacles curled around the ghost ship while its glowing eyes stared directly at John. The phantom captain shouted something nobody could understand. The squid responded with a roar that sounded suspiciously like a foghorn. Kelly grabbed John's pirate sword. I think your old friend has come back for Halloween!
The next few minutes were absolute chaos. The ghost ship drifted toward the Oasis while the giant squid thrashed around in the waves. Suddenly, a brilliant green flash illuminated the sky. The northern lights had returned, even farther south than anyone expected. The phantom captain raised his lantern, and the entire ghost ship vanished into the darkness. The squid disappeared beneath the waves with one enormous splash.
The following morning, Kelly and John reported their adventure to the ship's security office. The officer listened politely, then explained that no other vessels had been detected near the Oasis. Kelly showed him the photographs. One picture clearly showed a ghostly sailing ship, a glowing green lantern, and what appeared to be an enormous tentacle. The officer stared at the photograph for several seconds. Finally, he said, Mrs. Kelly, I think you should consider submitting this to our entertainment department.
That evening, Kelly and John returned to their balcony with two cups of coffee. The ocean was calm, and the stars were brilliant. John looked toward the horizon and smiled. Well, sweetheart, at least tomorrow should be quiet. Just then, something tapped against the balcony railing. Kelly slowly turned around. A small, wet pirate hat sat on the railing. Beneath it was a note written in dripping green ink: SEE YOU NEXT HALLOWEEN! Kelly looked at John. He looked at Kelly. Neither said a word. Somewhere beneath the Oasis, a giant squid laughed. ππ»π¦π’

===========Comedy Club π€πͺπ€ͺπ
I think finding a parking space should be an Olympic sport. Seriously! We already have synchronized swimming, downhill skiing, and competitive walking. Why not competitive parking? I'd watch it. I'd even buy a ticket, provided I could find a parking space.
There are several levels of competition. Beginner parking is when you pull into an empty parking lot and have 47 spaces to choose from. Advanced parking is when you arrive at Walmart on a Saturday afternoon. Professional parking is when you try to park at the mall three days before Christmas. That's not shopping. That's survival.
I have developed my own parking strategy. First, I drive slowly through the parking lot, looking for someone carrying shopping bags. They're probably heading to their car. I follow them at a respectful distance. Unfortunately, so does everybody else in the county.
Then comes the waiting game. You sit there with your blinker on, watching the person put their groceries in the trunk. They put one bag in. Then another. Then they rearrange everything. Apparently, they're playing Tetris back there.
Finally, they get into the driver's seat. You think, here we go! But no. They check their phone. Adjust the mirrors. Turn on the radio. Check their phone again. I'm beginning to think they're waiting for a congressional approval before starting the engine.
Meanwhile, another car pulls up from the opposite direction. The driver makes eye contact with you. You know what that means. It's a parking-space showdown. Two vehicles enter, one vehicle leaves, and neither driver wants to surrender.
I have noticed that the person who gets the parking space is rarely the person who arrived first. It's usually the person with the smallest car and the biggest attitude.
Then there are those people who drive around looking for a space right next to the entrance. They'll circle the parking lot 14 times to save themselves a 30-second walk. I think their car gets more exercise than they do.
I've seen people park so close to the entrance that their front bumper is practically inside the store. I'm surprised they don't install a drive-through checkout lane for them.
And what about the people who park across two spaces? What makes them so special? Did they buy a luxury vehicle or a small country? I want to leave them a note that says, Congratulations! You've successfully parked two cars in one space. Unfortunately, you only own one.
Compact car spaces are another mystery. They're usually occupied by a pickup truck the size of a small aircraft carrier. I don't know how the driver gets out. They probably need a parachute.
Parking garages are even worse. You drive in and immediately lose your sense of direction. You go up three levels, turn left, turn right, and suddenly you're in a different zip code. I once parked in a garage and spent 20 minutes looking for my car. I was beginning to think it had been repossessed.
I always try to remember which level I'm parked on. Level two, section C, near the elevator. Easy enough. Then I come back and discover there are six sections labeled C. Apparently, the garage was designed by someone who hated people.
Shopping carts make parking lots particularly dangerous. They roll around like they're auditioning for a demolition derby. You park carefully, walk away, and suddenly a runaway shopping cart is heading for your door. Somewhere there's a customer who thinks shopping carts have automatic steering.
And why do people leave shopping carts in empty parking spaces? There are shopping cart return stations everywhere! It's like leaving your bicycle in the middle of the highway because you don't feel like using the sidewalk.
The handicapped spaces are properly marked, but some people seem to think the blue paint is merely decorative. They pull in, jump out, and sprint into the store. I guess they're training for the Parking Olympics.
I particularly enjoy watching someone try to parallel park. It's like watching a complicated mathematical proof performed with a steering wheel. Forward, backward, turn left, turn right, stop, get out, inspect, get back in. At some point, I expect them to bring out a protractor.
My wife and I have different parking philosophies. She wants the closest space available. I want a space where nobody can hit my car with a shopping cart. We have been married long enough to know that neither of us is changing our position.
Sometimes I find a perfectly good space, pull in, and discover there's a shopping cart sitting right in the middle. I get out, move the cart, get back in, and then another driver takes the space. I just helped somebody else win the parking lottery.
Parking meters are another invention designed to separate us from our money. You pull up, read the instructions, download an app, create an account, enter your license plate, and provide a credit card. I just wanted to park for 15 minutes! By the time I'm finished, I could have walked to the restaurant.
And those parking apps are wonderful. They tell you exactly where your car is, how much time you have left, and how much money you've spent. They still can't tell you why you parked three blocks away.
I think parking lots should have a special lane for people who are just looking. Call it the scenic route. You can drive around as long as you want without interfering with the serious competitors. Bring a lunch. Pack a sleeping bag. Maybe even install a television.
Then there's the person who spots you backing out of a space and stops directly behind you. They just sit there. You can't move forward, and you can't move backward. You're trapped in a three-dimensional game of chess with someone who apparently has all day.
I've also noticed that people become incredibly territorial about parking spaces. You can be standing in an empty space waiting for your passenger, and somebody will pull up and stare at you. What's next? Are we going to start planting flags and claiming parking territories?
I propose a new parking-lot rule. Whoever spots an empty space first gets it. No following people. No blocking traffic. No mysterious hand signals. And absolutely no arguing with a shopping cart. The cart has no legal standing.
We should have parking-lot referees wearing striped shirts. They could blow whistles when somebody cuts in line. First offense, warning. Second offense, penalty lap around the building. Third offense, you're sentenced to park next to the dumpster.
The championship event would be held at the mall on December 23. Thousands of drivers would compete for one space near the entrance. There would be television coverage, instant replays, and commentators saying things like, He's circling the food court! He's spotted a minivan! He's making his move!
The winner would receive a gold-plated parking sign, a lifetime supply of shopping cart tokens, and a reserved space directly in front of their favorite store. The runner-up would receive a map showing where the winner parked.
I've decided that from now on, I'm going to be more relaxed about parking. If I find a space close to the entrance, wonderful. If I have to park farther away, that's fine too. I'll get some exercise, enjoy the fresh air, and take my time walking into the store.
Of course, that's easy to say when it's 70 degrees outside. Let it be January, 18 degrees, and snowing sideways. Suddenly, that parking space three blocks away looks like a death march across Antarctica.
You know what the real secret to finding a parking space is? Patience. Just drive around calmly, don't get upset, and remember that there's always another space somewhere. Unless you're at Walmart on Saturday afternoon. Then all bets are off.
And if you ever see me sitting in my car with my blinker on, watching someone load groceries into their trunk, please don't honk. I'm not waiting for a parking space. I'm watching the final episode of a very exciting reality show called Everybody's Going Home Except Me!
Thank you, folks! Drive safely, park responsibly, and remember: the best parking space in the world is the one you actually manage to get into! ππ

===========SHADOW
Drivers on Interstate 84 suddenly encounter a wall of stopped traffic near Waterbury. Above the highway, a massive spacecraft hangs motionless in the night sky. Its underside opens, revealing hundreds of rows of tiny glowing lights. Alien creatures begin descending onto the highway. They are covered in dark armor and move on six spider-like legs. Their heads contain no faces, only a single vertical slit of brilliant white light. Every vehicle's engine dies as the creatures approach. The aliens inspect the cars one by one. Then they reach the first vehicle containing passengers. The occupants disappear without the doors ever opening.
